This is the view from Manayunk Avenue, just off the intersection of Roxborough Avenue. It's two blocks from my home. This is a line of store fronts with apartments above them. I like the fact that these stores are imbedded in a neighborhood within walking distance and not in a strip mall on the main drag. The businesses are a hairdresser, an upholsterer and dry cleaner. These buildings have some hard miles on them yet they still have a lot of their original architectural details. Frankly, I was starting to get fatigued drawing all the #$@%& details. While I was drawing this, a woman who lives in a house to the left of where I was sitting, wanted to see my drawing. I showed her. I got the sense that she was wondering why on Earth I would want to draw this line of buildings. Why indeed. 'Cause it's REAL, man! This drawing was done with the usual suspects.
